St. James Episcopal Church

St. James Welcomes you!
We are an Episcopal Church in downtown Woonsocket, right next to the Court St. Bridge on Hamlet Ave. We are focused on worshiping God in a joyful manner, teaching children and adults about Jesus and God, helping each other, and reaching out to the community through our ministries.

At St. James Church we strive...
  • To model Christ-like behavior of acceptance, forgiveness, and love
  • To reach families in our community for Christ
  • To assimilate them into the life of the Church
  • To nurture them toward Christian maturity

We have raised over $8,000 toward the parish hall challenge grant!  We would like to wrap up this fundraising effort by the end of February.  If everyone at St. James gave $15-$20 in February, we would be able complete this effort.  Please consider giving, especially since next week’s loose plate offering will be dedicated to the challenge grant.

February will be “Kick off your Shoes” month for the Coat of Many Colors.  The Coat is need of shoe donations for men, women, and children of all sizes.  If you have a pair of shoes you are ready to retire, but could be helpful to someone else, please donate them to the COMC.

Bible and Bagels, our monthly Men’s Breakfast & Bible Study, will meet at 7:30 am on Saturday, March 4th at Coffee & Cream in N. Smithfield.

Our monthly Family Game night will take place following the 5:00 pm service on Saturday, Feb. 25th. Come enjoy an evening of fun, food, and fellowship with your friends at St. James.  Feel free to invite others—game night is a great way to introduce people to our community.

No Weekly Bible Study this week. It is typically Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in the ECW room.  Discussing the Acts of the Apostles.
The Rev. Peter Tierney will be offering house blessings from after the Epiphany up until Ash Wednesday on March 1st.  If you would like him to come to bless your home, please speak directly with him to schedule a time.
Bishop Knisely will be making an official visitation to St. James on Sunday, May 28th.  One of the things that bishops during parish visitations is perform confirmations, receive people into the communion of the Episcopal church, and pray for those who want to make a formal renewal of their baptismal declaration of faith in Christ.

The Rev. Peter Tierney will be conducting a preparatory class for anyone who would like to have Bishop Knisely confirm, receive, or witness their renewal of faith.  The sessions will take place on Sundays during the spring.  There is a sign-up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the Atrium.
