St. James Episcopal Church

St. James Welcomes you!
We are an Episcopal Church in downtown Woonsocket, right next to the Court St. Bridge on Hamlet Ave. We are focused on worshiping God in a joyful manner, teaching children and adults about Jesus and God, helping each other, and reaching out to the community through our ministries.

At St. James Church we strive...
  • To model Christ-like behavior of acceptance, forgiveness, and love

  • To assimilate them into the life of the Church
  • To nurture them toward Christian maturity

During the months of September, we will be discerning ministries and activities at St. James. Sheets describing each of our ministry groups are posted around the atrium. Please take time to read these descriptions, and during September, pray about what God might be asking you to do here at St. James. It would be wonderful if every member of our church chose at least one ministry activity to be involved with over the course of the coming year.

The Coat of Many Colors is requesting donations for childrens’ clothing, shoes, and coats—the kids’ room is very low on inventory due to children going back to school. If you have any clothing to donate, or can refer interested donors to the Coat of Many Colors, it will be greatly appreciated.

There are still seats available on the Eastern Star bus trip to the Big E on Saturday, September 23rd. The price is $65 for adults, $55 for children and includes admission to the fair. The pick-up is in Cumberland at 9:15 A.M. with a return around 7:30 P. M. Anyone interested in going should contact Shirley Ayers at 762-4535.

Each year, Adopt-A-Family matches donors with over 2000 needy Woonsocket children to provide gifts of clothing and toys during the Christmas season. This year Adopt-A-Family applications will be taken at St. James. Volunteers are needed to provide screening for the Adopt-A-Family application process. Volunteers will be responsible for reviewing personal and financial information for eligibility and maintaining confidentiality in a supportive sensitive manner. Volunteers must be 21 years of age and comply with screening/background check. All volunteers will be fully trained, and on-site support is always available. If interested in volunteering, please contact Wendy Pires at 401-235-7245 or wpires@communitycareri.org. The Adopt-A-Family Application process begins at the end of September and runs through November. Get your volunteer application in today to help low –income families in Woonsocket have a blessed holiday.
